Is it okay to reference high school activities on a college scholarship application?

Posted by admin  Published in high school activities

I was active in things like orchestra and ski team in high school, and was wondering if that was okay to put on a scholarship application for college. Any input is appreciated :]
Oops, probably should have said that I am a sophomore in college right now. So I have been out of high school for 2 years.

Depends on 1) how long ago high school is for you and 2) how relevant those activities are to the scholarship. Once you’ve been out of high school for a couple of years, the significance of what you did there is greatly diminished. Assuming you have NOT been out of high school for more than about a year and without knowing any other details, I would say include orchestra for sure; if the "ski team" was competing against other schools like the volleyball or baseball teams did, you could include it as well as long as it has some relevance.

How come my high school memories are in a way repressed?

Posted by admin  Published in high school memories

I’m in college now.
My high school buddies and I had another get together lately.
We talked about high school stuff.
Initially, I can’t remember what we’re talking about but when I think so hard I can relate with them.
The thing is I am having a difficulty reminiscing my high school memories.
I know I am a fit young healthy person.

Don’t feel depressed. Forget. And be confident.

What can I do to make this speech more appealing to a high school audience and make it funnier?

Posted by admin  Published in high school prom all over the world

Good morning class of 2009, I’m ——– and I want to be your Class President. I am honored to be among this elite group of candidates. Class president is a very important job and should be filled by the best candidate possible. I feel that I am that candidate for numerous reasons. Some of my peers often describe me as respectful, honest, intelligent, reliable, gracious, passionate, and super-duper. With the use all of these imperative traits, I will be able to do what is in the best interest of all of us and continue the momentum that has already been created in raising funds for our senior prom, an event that is sure to be a highlight of our life experiences. My dedication to service as well as my good interpersonal and organizational skills will be tools essential to my success as a student leader. I’ve assisted a handful of major charities this past year and have helped to raise money for great causes all over the world. A certain program that I am determined to bring to Kennedy is called Invisible Children. With our help, we can build lives for African children on whom the world has turned its back. The program that we can get involved in is called Schools For Schools where we pick a school to be built in Uganda and we raise money for it. In terms of accomplishments, I feel that more can be done. I see my primary responsibilities as running organized and effective meetings, overseeing all class officers and providing them with tools and guidance to help them in their work, and working with all members of the ——— High School community. This past year, our class has participated in various charitable organizations and has raised small amounts of money through bakes sales and candy sales. This may be news to some of you and that’s a problem because we should all be doing our part. We need to be doing more for our local community as well as our global community and I will make it happen. Additionally, our class hasn’t been represented well at school functions the past two years and I’m prepared to change that. I’m not sure what design we’ll have on our class night shirts next year but I promise that if it’s up to me, it’ll be amazing and well worth the purchase. It will not just be the name of our class on a white shirt. The lack of results from the current administration has been one of the major factors in my decision to run for President. I am set to do all that is in my power to make our class the best it has ever been. Winning the trust of each and every one of you is what means the most to me. Together as a class, we can change the world, but first we need a change in leadership. If you like to settle for less than greatness, vote for one of the others behind me; but if you’re ready to see the class of 2009 make miracles, I’m your man. My name is ———— and I want to be your Class President.

Maybe instead of My name is Bob* and I WANT to be your class president

My name is Bob* and I am the one to be your class president or something like that.

*hehe

Nostalgia of high school memories, but its not over yet..?

Posted by admin  Published in high school nostalgia

I am going to be a senior in high school and I am having trouble believing that my "childhood" is coming to an end. In a year from now I will be in college. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait for college. Its not helping much that I been bored this whole summer. It feels like there is nothing to do. I am going to take the SAT’s again in October so I have been studying for that and I been working on my college applications/essays. I also been working out and keeping myself in shape. Though I can’t help but feel lonely. Any advice/thoughts on this?

When I graduated high school it actually didn’t feel as epic as I thought it would be. yes, I still reminisce on the times I’ve had with my friends, and a lot of them have gone to different colleges and some have moved to different states. Actually, my best friend goes to Salem in NC and my other male best friend is moving to PA next month. My first bestfriend goes to Rutgers and lives on campus now. I should feel sad that high school ended, but I’m encountering so many new experiences, meeting new people, working and liviing life. I’m still in close personal contact with my friends from high school because of a little invention called Facebook. It works, trust me.

Broadrick Secondary School Video For Prom Night ’08

2 Broadrick Secondary School Video For Prom Night 08Broadrick Secondary School
4E5N Prom Night 08 @ Singapore Flyer

Sorry if the video ain’t up to expectation. We kinda rushed it + there’s a lack of photo.. SORRY!

Saved in 16:9 format. Watch in High Quality.

Goodbye So Long Lyrics…

There’s no need to worry all day long
Cause worry don’t help a thing
We’ve burned our bridges at both ends
So if I never see you again

Goodbye so long hope you enjoy it while it last cause soon this world of us is gone.
Farwell to you all cause heaven knows that we don’t have all that far to fall

It feels like we’re in over our heads
That we’ve wasted our days
Running through life with reckless disregard now there’s nothing to save
Sooner than later I’ll be high maybe I’ll gain my peace of mind so here’s to the world passing us by, goodbye

Goodbye so long hope you enjoy it while it last cause soon this world of us is gone.
Farwell to you all cause heaven knows we don’t have all that far to fall

So wave goodbye as we count down to the end one more trip of all the sun if I never see you again
Sooner than later I’ll be high so cheers to the world passing us by, goodbye

Goodbye so long hope you enjoy it while it last cause soon this world of us is gone.
Farewell to you all cause heaven knows we don’t have all that far to fall

Goodbye so long
Goodbye so long
Farewell to you all cause heaven knows we don’t have all that far to fall

Obama vs. Clinton: Will the Real JFK please stand up? (Video mashup feat. Eminem)

2 Obama vs. Clinton: Will the Real JFK please stand up? (Video mashup feat. Eminem)Eminem + Hillary Clinton + Barack Obama + John F. Kennedy + The Real Slim Shady hip-hop political music video Mash-Up featuring special comment by Chris Matthews
——————————————–
At a campaign rally in rural West Virginia, Hillary Clinton said that, much like her, John F. Kennedy also didn’t have the necessary delegates to clinch the nomination as late as the Democratic National Convention in 1960. “It was West Virginia that made it possible for John Kennedy to become president,” Clinton told a small group at a local high school. “Now John Kennedy didn’t have the number of delegates he needed when he went to the convention in 1960, he had something equally as important he had West Virginia behind him.” As Clinton struggles to keep pace with Barack Obama in pledged delegates, in superdelegates, and in campaign contributions, her argument to stay in the race has shifted several times in the past few weeks…She refrained from engaging her opponent directly but did take him to task for not supporting the federal gas tax holiday. Clinton said Obama calls it “a gimmick” which prompted one man in the audience to yell “We need that gimmick!” Clinton ended her speech with a final plea to voters to turn out tomorrow saying again, “West Virginia has nearly always picked the next president.” She even called on young voters to get involved in the election. “I am asking for you help tomorrow. Those of you who have just turned old enough to vote, I would be honored to have your first vote.”

In an interview with the Argus Leader, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., took the unusual step of invoking the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy, D-N.Y., when discussing the continuing Democratic nomination battle.”My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don’t understand it.” Clinton said.

Sen. Clinton almost immediately tried to blunt the potential impact of her statement, telling reporters in South Dakota, “Earlier today I was discussing the democratic primary history and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Senator Kennedy waged in California in June in 1992 and 1968. And I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nomination primary contests that go into June that’s a historic fact. The Kennedy’s have been much on my mind for the last days because of Senator Kennedy.”

“I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation – particularly for that family – was in any way offensive,” Clinton continued. “I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever. My view is that we have to look to the past and to our leaders who have inspired us and give us a lot to live up to and I’m honored to hold Senator Kennedy’s seat in the United States Senate in the state of New York. And have the highest regard for the entire Kennedy family.”

Though she has now apologized for that very strange and tasteless comment to the Argus-Leader, this was not the first time she’s said it. This from her interview with TIME Managing Editor Richard Stengel, published March 6:

TIME: Can you envision a point at which–if the race stays this close–Democratic Party elders would step in and say, “This is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall”?
CLINTON: No, I really can’t. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

Her excuse now is that the Kennedys have been “much on my mind these days” with the illness of Senator Edward Kennedy, but that doesn’t explain what brought it to mind more than two months ago.
